Is the 8-pointed star, carved in the rock of the Bedford Barrens of Nova Scotia – a representation of a SOLAR CLOCK? Is there a connection between the Bedford Barrens carving and a solar clock in Ecuador?

What is known as the Mi’kmaq Eight Point Star Petroglyph has been dated to pre-contact and the colonial invasion. Some researchers have determined that the petroglyphs had been cut using stone tools which would suggest it was carved before the arrival of Europeans. If so, the petroglyphs predate any other known petroglyph site in Atlantic Canada. The 8- point star is used today by the Mi’kmaq not only as a cultural symbol, but also as an emblem of pride, of culture and decoration.

Interestingly, this same emblem is used by many other cultures across the globe and spans millennia. It is seen in China, North and South America, Europe, and Africa. Included are various pics of this same emblem repeated across different cultures.

QUITSATO SUNDIAL

The Quitsato Sundial is the first and only Monument of the Middle of the world, which is located exactly on the Equatorial Line or Parallel Zero. It constitutes a large Sun clock 54 meters in diameter, made with a large stone mosaic that indicates the different lines of the solstices and equinoxes, as well as the hours of the day, which are marked by the projection of the shadow of a large 10-meter-high pole that stands exactly in the center of this large circular platform. The monument functions both as a large calendar and as a sundial, thus becoming the best place in the world to understand the apparent movements of the Sun, how the seasons work, the history of the calendar, the agricultural calendar, and different astronomical geographical aspects.

“The angles that form the geometric design of the eight-pointed star are given by the tilt of the Earth with respect to the ecliptic of the Earth, thus the platform itself also presents a reading of the celestial mechanics. Detailed positions of the solstices and equinoxes, as well as their respective axes, are presented” (See Pic. 5). Could the carving in the Bedford Barrows be a manual for a Solar Clock or possibly a diagram on how to build a much bigger structure?
